Curacao is an island in the Southern Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coast. The island area of Curacao, which includes the main island plus the small, uninhabited island of Klein Curacao (“Little Curacao”), it’s capital is the city of Willemstad and this is where our ship berthed today.

Curacao is the largest and most populous of the three so called Campo Allegre ABC islands (for Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao) of the Lesser Antilles, specifically the Leward Antilles. It has a land area of 444 square kilometres (171 square miles)

The origins of the name are up for debate but the most popular theory is that the Spanish named the island “Corazon” (Spanish for “Heart”) for it’s heart shape, which later became “Curacao”, derived from the Portuguese word for heart, this later became “Coracao”

An absolutely beautiful isand and incredibly friendly people.
