This is the Vivien Mallock ‘Jubilee Sculpture’ which used to sit in a diferent location over in Gunwharf Quays.
It stands 12′ high and is of Bronze construction. This was placed to represent the city’s future and its last half century. The sculpture was unveiled by HEr Majesty the Queen on the 27th June 2002.
The bronze shows the prow of the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the future represented by a small boy seated at its base, the base itself evokes the Round Tower here in the City of Portsmouth, which guards the entrance to the Harbour.
It is a stunning work of art and looks amazing in its new location alongside the Spinnaker Tower and overlooking the Harbour itself.
